Since 1999 Gina Mattiello has appeared as versatile performer and vocalist in experimental music and theatre productions. In pursuit of alternative ways to stage contemporary texts and scores from the felds of theatre and new music, she scetches out well-conceived concepts in collaboration with musicans while drawing on the diverse elements provided by theatre. She studied at Bern University of the Arts, where she received a master degree with distinction in Théâtre Muscial - Composition and Theory as well as literary writing and attended masterclasses with David Moss, Meredith Monk and Phil Minton at the Insitute of Living Voice in Belgium. She received a scholarship by the Austrian Federal Chancellery of the Arts and the SKE-Fonds. She has premiered numerous solo, chamber and ensemble works from contemporary music composers including Daniel de la Cuesta, Tamara Friebel, Elisabeth Harnik, Christoph Herndler, Peter Jakober, Bernhard Lang, Periklis Liakakis, Helmut Oehring, Pia Palme, Wolfgang Seierl, Marianna Tscharkwiani, Jorge Sánchez-Chiong (JSX), Reinhold Schinwald, among others. She has collaborated with new music ensembles including NewTonEnsemble, quartett22, Ensemble PHACE, Ensemble EIS, zinc & copper works as well as the Koehne Quartett. Gina Mattiello initiated and co-founded the annual e_may festival for new and electronic music. From 2007 to 2012 the festival commissioned and premiered more than 50 works by female composer from Austria and abroad. She regularly works with the director Ernst Marianne Binder and the theatre dramagraz which has dedicated itself to staging contemporary dramatic texts. As performer she regularely appears in major music and theatre festivals including Wien Modern, Wiener Festwochen, steirischer Herbst, Klangspuren Schwaz, Festival für die Beweglichkeit, Wiener Konzerthaus, Bern Music Festival, Music of the Centuries Stuttgart, Komponistenforum Mittersill, Radiokulturhaus, Wiener Konzerthaus, Künstlerhaus Wien, Porgy & Bess, Dampfzentrale Bern and Theater Stok Zürich. Gina Mattiello had various leading roles in contemporary opera and theatre productions including the chamber opera „fremd körper“ by Reinhold Schinwald, premiered at the Taschenopernfestival in Salzburg, the theatre play „wir schlafen nicht“ by Kathrin Röggla at dramagraz (2011), the chamber opera „alice“ by Periklis Liakakis and „KEIN LICHT.“ by Elfriede Jelinek (2013), the operas „k. frammenti dell´attesa“ by Lorenzo Romano and „hystéra“ by Zesses Seglias at Graz Opera House (2014) as well as the music theatre „ungeduld“, where she also wrote the libretto, premiered at Gare Du Nord Basel (2015 ).
